Unpack Residency

One Month in Havana

29 days in Havana,Cuba. i hosted an Augmented Reality workshop. I hosted a skateboarding workshop. i became a part of the skatboarding family . I became a a part of the art tech community.

Why This Project

This was my first time in Havana and my first time working with Unpack Studio. My stay would last for three weeks. During that time I would be setting up to host an augmented reality workshop to local artists. The objective was to introduce AR to these artists who work mostly with traditional mediums and give them another tool to create with.

Augmented Reality Workshop

Recap of the Augmented Reality Workshop.

Skateboarding Workshop

With this workshop we exposed a new side of skateboarding that the Cuban youth had not yet been familiar with. We showed skaters and artists of all ages how to use tools to repurpose something they use everyday. in short Orly, Ariel, and I recycled our old skateboards and demonstrated how to strip and treat the wood in order to make jewelry,frames,etc.. Then we gave a chance for attendants to participate. The participants walked away with the tools to be able to look at something and dissect it and turn it into something else.
