Apeg Design x 934 Gallery
In 2020 Apeg Design collaborated with 934 Fest to create an
augmented reality experience. Apeg painted an AR mural and worked with other muralists to create an augmented reality experience for their pieces. This was the second year Apeg and 934 Gallery collaborate for this experience.
Augmented Reality Murals
The Augmented Reality aspect to my artwork started a handful of years ago. I began experimenting with this technology in my early twenties and used it on a few personal pieces. Later I partnered with a fellow artist and painter and created a gallery experience at the Blockfort Gallery in Columbus Ohio. We challenged 17 other traditional artists to make an AR piece. First we held a workshop and taught them how to use the technology and then we created a group show. We called that "Hidden Layers" : The experience was well received and duplicated many times since.
After the initial gallery experience I have been able to recreate it in other environments and in other ways. The most popular application has been the Augmented Reality Mural. The shear scale of some of the pieces really adds an element of magic to the experiences that can't quite be explained.
